White, Yellow, & Advanced Yellow Belts

White Belt

*White Belts need to pass 5 skill assessments (stripes) to be eligible to test for Yellow Belt.

Yellow Stripe:  Answer the 3 Self-Defense Questions:

  • Do you want to fight?  "No, sir!" 

  • Will you fight if necessary?  "Yes, sir!"

  • Are you afraid to fight?   "Fear does not control my actions!"

 

Green Stripe:  Demonstrate Basic Stances

  • Attention, Ready, Front, Back, Sitting, Fighting, and Open Guard

 

Blue Stripe:  Demonstrate Combinations (see video)

  1. Jab/punch/back leg front kick

  2. Back leg front kick/jab/hook punch

  3. Side kick/knifehand/punch

 

Red Stripe:  Demonstrate Blocking Drills (see video)

  1. Low block/backfist

  2. Outer forearm block/punch

  3. Outside block/knifehand

Black Stripe:  Demonstrate Combatives (see video)

  • Juniors under 13 perform #1 & #2​

  • Teens and Adults perform #1-#4

  • Demonstrate Blocking Drills on command

  • Demonstrate Combinations on command

  • Demonstrate Combatives from memory

  • Answer the 3 Self-Defense Questions

Green Stripe:  Dan-Gun Hyung (see video)

 

Blue Stripe:  3 Combinations (see video)

  1. Jab/punch/back leg round kick

  2. Step side kick/sideways hammerfist/punch

  3. Back leg front kick/round kick/backfist

 

Red Stripe:  3 Blocking Drills (see video)

  1. Outside palm block/punch

  2. X-block/elbow

  3. Hook block/palm heel

 

Black Stripe:  Combative Sparring (see video)

  • Juniors under 13 perform #1 & #2​

  • Teens and Adults perform #1-#4

Advanced Yellow Belt

*Advanced Yellow Belts need to pass 3 skill assessments (stripes) to be eligible to test for Green Belt.

Green Stripe:  Demonstrate Form (Won-Hyo Hyung) (see video)

Blue Stripe: Demonstrate Clapper Target Drills

  1. Reverse Punch

  2. Elbow Strike

  3. Outside Crescent Kick

  4. Back Leg Front Kick

  5. Back Leg Round Kick

  6. Front Leg Side Kick

 

Black Stripe:  Combative Sparring (see video below)

  • All ages perform #1-#3

Advanced Yellow Belts can spar in classes but it is not a part of testing.
